MOSES is a modular building system, which serves as habitats for marine life to find food, shelter and a save space to reproduce. The outside surface functions as hard substrate for corals, mussels, oysters and other shellfish to hatch on. The modules can be modified with various dividers to create different microhabitats for small creatures to hide for bigger predators.
MOSES units can be used to construct functional maritime structures, such as riverbank reinforcements, wave breakers or artificial reefs. The modular system enables the construction of structures with similar size and strength using 40% less concrete, thereby resulting in decreased CO2-emissions through less cement use. MOSES has a simplified installation proces compared to traditional maritime structures, since complete segments can be constructed on land, whereafter they can be submerged into the water using a crane.
